I just emailed the school district HR person to say that once the new position is all set up, I will take the job as middle school substitute teacher. The pay will be shit. But I will continue state employment and work on securing retirement. And they literally created a position for me - at a school that is 1.2 miles from our house. Not a done deal yet, no contract signed yet, but #JobSearch is likely going on hold and for that I am glad.
That retirement fund may be a life-saver. I know a woman who is retired teacher & living comfortably with it & SS. Good on you š

Thatās a good gig. My advice is to set your expectations and listen carefully to the kids. Most adults are yelling at this age group. If you speak softly and listen- you can change lives.

That is a good word. I am certified for high school and am a veteran of college teaching, so I specifically chose this demographic to give myself a challenge with a new type of student. I could have chosen high school but I didn't.
