Good morning CoSo!
I just emailed the school district HR person to say that once the new position is all set up, I will take the job as middle school substitute teacher. The pay will be shit. But I will continue state employment and work on securing retirement. And they literally created a position for me - at a school that is 1.2 miles from our house. Not a done deal yet, no contract signed yet, but #JobSearch is likely going on hold and for that I am glad.

Thank you my dear
@publickovacs G’Morning 🌻☕️ 🤞🏼
@j0n
I will gratefully take all that the emojis represent!
@publickovacs good deal! Hope it all works out!!
@Siriusfarm
Thank you!
That retirement fund may be a life-saver. I know a woman who is retired teacher & living comfortably with it & SS. Good on you 💗
@LnzyHou
Thank you so much! That is encouraging.

That’s a good gig. My advice is to set your expectations and listen carefully to the kids. Most adults are yelling at this age group. If you speak softly and listen- you can change lives.
@Megalicious
That is a good word. I am certified for high school and am a veteran of college teaching, so I specifically chose this demographic to give myself a challenge with a new type of student. I could have chosen high school but I didn't.
Two teachers saved my sanity when I was a kid. One in 4th grade and one in high school.
Teaching is a noble occupation.
I’m your back up girl 👩🏻🦳

Ty!
Middle school. Substitute. You should be considered for sainthood. 😉
@ellesu
Please start whispering in the appropriate ears, if you could
You got it.
@ellesu
Thank you thank you thank you
@publickovacs My mom is doing this. She worked as a Kindergarten and Early Childhood teacher, as well as speech pathology for over 30 years.
After a year of retirement, she went back tutoring at risk students two days a week. It doesn't affect her retirement and it's helping.
My Dad came down with Parkinsons and it kind of tanked their retirement.
@NiveusLepus
Thank you for sharing their story!
My goodness--this is a relief for the moment--a favorable break after some trials <3
I think the opportunity to teach middle school students would be challenging but amazing--they are are such a pivotal age of sorting into groups and emerging identities--you can really make a difference! <3<3
They will be most lucky to have you
@Minholkin
Thank you kindly!
@publickovacs
Woot!
Best wishes on this! Teaching is tough, but at least you have a chance to help make better humans, and believe me, I know how much of a pain it is to look for work.
Rooting for you!
