I got a DNA match with a close but not close relative. My grandfather was his 2nd great grandfather.
I knew my Dad's half brother. I met the half brother's sons a few times but they were 19 and 17 years older than me and lived far away Haven't met anyone from the generations below that. This match is on that line. Didn't even know his name until today.
Genealogy can be interesting. Or this. 😄

Yes it is exciting!
My sisters & I started with a dna test because our mom and 2 aunts had died battling breast cancer.
I discovered Im not related to my sisters. Both my adopted and biological parents and aunts/uncles being deceased I could not get answers. I discovered new family members and my ancestry going back to 16 century in Europe. This summer I'll be going to the villages they came from and lived in for centuries to discover more.
Have you discovered anything new?
@Bliss That's all very cool. Through DNA I confirmed that my grandfather was who I thought. I discovered a half brother to me and his children. I have also been able to trace back on a couple lines that were dead ends in the paper record. And I've helped a couple adoptees who are related to me
