Holy moly it's hot out there. I have to whine here because I can't whine on Faceplace. I'm from Texas and my family would make fun of me for complaining about temps below 95F. I think living in North Carolina has made me soft. If you're out in this heat today, drink lots of water and wear sunscreen. Protect your bald head (if you're like me and have no hair) and ears.
@Foxthorn I'm in southern Illinois. 50s here. My son lives in NC now. Going for his doctorate at Chapel Hill.
@poemblaze I love NC. It's not a place I'd ever thought about living but I'm glad I took the move when it was offered. What subject area will your son's doctorate be in? (If you don't mind sharing... ignore me if I'm being too intrusive).
@Foxthorn He hopes to be a Prof. Literature. He could have done anything, but that's his love.
@Foxthorn I was not a great Lit student either. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up
@poemblaze my goal when I grow up is to be that retired old person who spends their day gardening, reading, playing with dogs, and screaming "stay off my lawn whippersnappers!!"
@Foxthorn That gardening stuff sounds too much like work. 😁
@poemblaze A lot of work, but the rewards are so yummy!
@Foxthorn True. We always had a big garden when I was growing up.
@poemblaze I was a terrible lit major. I think they passed me out of pity. I'm a much better engineer for having that lit background though. Having communication and writing skills in a field full of introverts who can't write is incredibly helpful.
