How old am I? Well, my first job was Tier 1 Tech Support in the IT Department for the construction company that built the Parthenon.

“I'm one of the oldest farts in the Old Farts Club.” Yesterday a couple of us were having a lighthearted discussion about age on LinkedIn. Ageism is real, and I get it, actually. Since I’m 69 years old, and I’ve been consulting since 2003, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to work with people of all ages in Information Technology. Want to know what I’ve found?

I tell my clients not to rely on Microsoft's email archive. If you really want to keep a record of emails sent and received, it's better to create your own archive that's completely under your control.

Today we went to the Titanic exhibit currently in Seattle. It was fantastic, and I highly recommend it! There are real artifacts recovered from the ship.
In the Memorial Room at the end of the exhibit they have displays with the names of everyone who died. It shows their name and age. It was sad to see the names of babies and toddlers. On the list of crew members who died, the oldest was William Cheverton. Find his name near the center of the picture. He was probably close to retirement.

QUESTION #1
If you could do anything you wanted to do for the rest of your life, what would you do?
QUESTION #2
Are your goals, objectives, and daily tasks aligned with making that happen?

Change it to "gentleman," and I can use it. Anyway, I saw this on FB and thought someone might smile when they read it, so here it is, just for you.

If you use Windows, here’s an interesting little command to run to find stray New Folders:

[For the local Documents folder]:
dir c:\"New Folder" /s > %userprofile%\Documents\NewFolderList.txt

[For the OneDrive Documents folder]:
dir c:\"New Folder" /s > %userprofile%\OneDrive\Documents\NewFolderList.txt

Before you delete them, be careful – you may find that files were saved to the folder. The better choice may be to rename it.

It’s been an interesting couple of days. I’ve been doing a deep-dive into SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for a problem a client was having with their email. Lo and behold, I ended up learning that my own email could be better secured. Fixed it, and set up RUA and RUF logging. Now I’m wondering if I can sell setting up email correctly as a service. There must be lots of small businesses who are having trouble with some of their emails being rejected, and they don’t know how to fix it.

Citizens of Russia: vote for Volodymyr Zelenskyy for your new President.

Listen, this is probably going to come as a shock, but I don't have to reply at all if I'm not interested.

Well, that's interesting.

I was squinting into the sun trying to see the screen, and after I looked at the photo I realized I wasn't smiling. Oh well...

BREAKING NEWS - In a rarely seen event today, Bob took a selfie.

Your mileage may vary. I recovered over 5 GB on my personal laptop, and over 20 GB on a server.
