According to the CDC, the shingles vaccine, Shingrix, is more than 90 percent effective at preventing shingles in people with healthy immune systems for at least the first seven years after vaccination. For those with weakened immune systems, the CDC says studies show the vaccine is 68 to 91 percent effective at preventing a shingles outbreak.https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2023/03/07/shingles-outbreak-treatment-vaccine/
@normsmusic I got shingles when I was in my 30’s, it sucked! It was thankfully on my side by my hip but it HURT a LOT!
I will be getting the vaccine when it is my time for it!
I got it from extreme stress back then, my daughter was hospitalized a lot for a few years (brain shunt surgeries) and I thought it was a MRSA rash but when I went to the dr, he said nope, that’s shingles. I had thought it was an old person disease!
*ps, she is doing well now. 🙂
Just completed Shingrix #2. So grateful to be protected. Only reaction was headache to #2.
I urge everyone to vaccinate for #shingles.
@normsmusic My spouse got shingles, mostly exhibited on his face around one eye. He was about 60, "too young" for the vaccine at that time. d Doctors monitored closely as it an cause eye damage. I got the vaccine as soon as possible.
