Nicolas Maduro was declared the winner by a National Electoral Council that is loyal to him. Attacks on the opposition came after the opposition’s surprise release of detailed voting data that it says shows that Edmundo Gonzalez won by a landslide.
The Electoral Council has not released proof of the results, being tally sheets that the voting machines print after polls close. In previous elections the proof was posted online within hours.
