my ballot for the next election
arrives in the mail

i sit down with
my ballot
a black ink pen
ipad to do any needed research

the voters pamplet
with each entry getting
a page to describe their stance

a short blurb
it is often very illuminating
telling of what is most important
to them

now is to time to put aside
any wishful thinking
of what i may have wanted
to see on the ballot

this is my invitation
to encourage the formation
of the best government
i can from the options
presented within

over time there is
curiousity to evolve
so the lattice
can set microtubule
outside of the nitrogen sea

perhaps a crystalline shell
is extruded outside of the lattice
at certain points in time
creating a system of nested shells to accomodate growth

the shells allow storage
of nitrogen seawater
around the lattice
to carry a store of raw materials

now the lattice can breech
out of the sea
for periods of time
to experience out there

then splashes back down
into the sea to refuel

my imagination is taking
your words and seeing this

a complex lattice
of microtubules filled
with flowing liquid nitrogen
bathed in a liquid nitrogen sea

the shape of each lattice
is unique to the individual whim

lattice intakes nitrogen sea water
impurities are used to extrude
more crystalline microtubules

nitrogen added to the lattice
to maintain proper density

excess nitrogen sent thru
specialized comm microtubes
to create sound waves
or expelled to provide propulsion

queer doesn't insist
on hard lines
between categories

once lines are drawn
the assumption is to fit
in between the lines

contortions are made
just to fit in and then stuck
people are no more able
to be fully themselves
than before
with one dividing line

ability to change
and flow with shifting
realizations about yourself
is stuck as in one line system

instead

i am queer
know me as a person
see me as i am now
allow for future change
with passing of time
