Next Tuesday, I'm dropping off some of my new artwork at the Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens art gallery and shop.
My works that go there always have Sonoran Desert themes, and are mixed-media works using botanical and hand-painted papers. This one is called "Circle of Life."

@ShaneArtBooks

very cool...

let the eye roam
and the background paper
takes it up another level

@millard_jmm I've been thinking about what you said about my artwork. The good thing about these botanical papers is that they add an element of something alive and living, including the sky. You are insightful.

@ShaneArtBooks

ty - a nice compliment

this tidbit i recently read
provided a clue
to the interest index for me
brains are
giant prediction engines
they are constantly working
to figure out what is going
to happen next

i consider pieces of art
frozen moments in time

the interest index depends
on visual cues
indicating possibilities
of what might happen next
should they unfreeze
and start moving

the botanical papers
introduced random elements
in visual cues
vastly expanding the possibilities

@millard_jmm That's fascinating! I'll keep that in mind. I wonder myself where the images come from. I knew from Day 1 that the botanical papers would be important. I sell a lot of the Sonoran Desert pieces. But I hope to develop interest among art viewers for more abstract pieces.

@ShaneArtBooks

a lot of abstract art
seems more static to me

however every now and again
an abstract artist comes along
that injects the possibilities
of movement into their art
and the interest index pops

perhaps more
imagination is engaged
to visualize the
impending motion

for me
visual cues of motion
in abstract art
travel on shapes and colors

using the same color
but with added white
to make it brighter
in some spots
and i want to predict
the movement of that spot
or the shape it is on

@millard_jmm You have interesting ideas. i'll think about what you've said, I wander around from one medium to another, one style to another. It's fun experimenting.
