TTLDR: #climateChange does gerrymandering
TLDR:
"There’s no way the US Congresspeople won't become LESS representatives of their constituencies every year quicker, bc Census cannot keep up with the rapid population shifts that are already happening"
https://grist.org/extreme-weather/can-the-us-census-keep-up-with-climate-driven-displacement/
Max's advice to biographers:
"Get some training in computer forensics before you start your research"
MY advice: right, but first make EVERYBODY read this:
https://mfioretti.substack.com/p/ever-wondered-why-we-are-in-a-digital
"Our fear of AI’s potential is emblematic of humanity’s larger difficulty recognizing intelligence in unfamiliar guises."
Or, maybe, we fear being screwed by the few who CONTROL AI
Just maybe
https://www.noemamag.com/why-we-fear-diverse-intelligence-like-ai/
"why is there so little about this in the news? Both @guardian & @repubblica bury any env news after the sports section. @nytimes gives less space to... devastating species loss, deforestation, starvation than they to recipes"
"#OpenAI in its current form is untenable. There is no path to profitability,... #genAI needs to much energy..."

GREAT! So we can dump that crap, and focus on disrupting the ONLY things that REALLY need it first, aka #money & #DEBT:

First reactions to my call for a world with #UBI, without #DEBT , #GDP, ridiculous #growth and tamed #corporations are positive.
What are yours?

2010, when we believed that #Facebook could bring #peace:
"it is striking to realize that peace becomes plausible when barriers to communication are eliminated"
AND
"Might #Palestine youth feel similarly?"

embrace #serendipity (also) through my daily almanac!
From insane #copyright to #vegan babies, #quietquitting and mocking #BurningMan,
interesting stuff that happened #onthisday, between 2009 and 2023
My daily #onthisday Almanac, today from 2006 to 2023:
dangerous #russia bloggers, #Vatican worries, depressing myths about workers & consumers and much more at:
https://stop.zona-m.net/2024/09/on-this-day-september-5/
#serendipity rules!
This may seem the craziest thing I've ever written. But is still much saner, and simpler, than the life we live today:
on life, work, mental #health, #money, (no) #BigTech, and everything else
https://mfioretti.substack.com/p/there-is-only-one-thing-that-really
Many parents just aren't well versed enough in nutrition, cooking, or financial literacy. My family has adhd & are all basically terrible with money. I couldn't learn anything about finances from her. I'd have loved to have the opportunity to learn it. Also, 401ks, IRAs, stocks & bonds, etc.
We have to break the cycle somewhere. This is a great way to do it.
Life skills workshops (#nutrition, #cooking, financial literacy) to help students transition to independent living
Sure, much of this stuff belongs to #parenting, NOT schools
But why aren't such courses mandatory in EVERY university?
#onthisday, 2009 to 2023:
defending web links
stupid attacks to #Syria
#permaculture fails
screens are bad
breaking up #facebook
Dugin's theories
drowning in #plastic
RSS IS STILL GREAT
Peak Car
Social Mobility Illusion

"The task that generative A.I. has been most successful at is lowering our expectations, both of the things we read and of ourselves when we write anything for others to read."

Four years ago, I was
"depressed, not because I do not have full time work anymore, but exactly because I still (must) have it."
How many of you feel the same for the same reasons, today?
See "Let’s talk adults and purpose now" in https://stop.zona-m.net/2020/05/italylockdown-is-over.-lack-of-meaning-continues/
Recently, it was revealed that the Florida Department of Protection was working on plans to develop several state parks. This drew criticism, as many see the land as needing to be protected, especially as several parks were slated for golf courses, sometime we don't lack here.
Now, the Whistleblower has been fired and is speaking out, saying he couldn't help this plan and needed to speak out.
Of aging, pensions, "experience" lost, and "innovation"
a hugely important, urgent theme:

Said in 2017:
"All fossil-fuel vehicles will vanish in 8 years in twin ‘death spiral’ for big oil and big autos, says study that’s shocking the industries"
Today's #onthisday almanac, because #serendipity and memory matter A LOT.
