Funniest and (probably for all the wrong reasons) most insightful thing I've read about since its arrival:

Masses backing some wild theory online one day, and then pivoting all of a sudden to another, INCOMPATIBLE theory, are going to give chatGPT a backlash

This is worth some serious field tests, measurements and then a real paper. Anybody up to it?

is really "UBI is a terrible idea. The foundation of a punishment-based social credit system of technocracy" ?

Please tell. But ONLY after reading the whole thing as in the screenshot, thanks:

is just the last city to acknowledge that RENTED e-scooters were a a STUPID, unsustainable idea:

edition.cnn.com/2024/08/15/tra

will they move now to E-SCOOTERS DONE RIGHT, like this:

mfioretti.substack.com/p/in-pr

or not? Fingers crossed

Can anybody please provide sources with specific examples of "American soldiers sabotaging equipment to oppose automation of war"??? Thx

Question by M. Bauwens (*):

Q: "What kind of money do we need for the next value revolution ?"

ME (before even actually reading the essay): "Whatever, as long as it makes Universal Basic Income feasible"

PS: If I can help working on these topics, just call! :-)

The not-needed-at-all, but coolest nerdy thing I've seen this year:

"an 8-bit accordion primarily made of C64s, floppy disks, and gaffer tape"

Can anybody please explain why Xinghai Square in Dalian, , looks like this in Maps?

That is, the normal map with streets shifted wrt the satellite photos? Really curious!!!

VERY important: note how this "ideal ideological worldview" is EXACTLY what create, and it could exist so forcefully without them.

@mfioretti

It's sad how a once hugely-respected company has turned into an object of scorn, and all through their own terrible decisions.

I pitched our HP printer when I discovered that to scan anything with it, they demanded I set up an ACCOUNT first.

Dude, if you want me to join your club, you can give me the printer for FREE, and send me INK every month.

We replaced it with an Epson ink-tank printer. No complaints so far. Not having to throw out ink cartridges is a win, I'd say.

Never, EVER buy HP printers:

"Woman warns against HP printers after canceling subscription. It won’t let her print anything"

dailydot.com/news/hp-instant-i

, take note:

"what feels really otherworldly in series like , and therefore constitutes their REAL appeal. It's not the superpowers that make giant superlizards explode. It's seeing kids as young as 11 free to spend whole days unsupervised, because their parents won't call 911 the first time they don't text back within 30 minutes."

At some point "...we won’t understand what models are doing. What should we do? Pull the plug? Literally unplug the computer?"

F**k yes

"There is no way to aspire to a better future without aspiring to functional cities.. [therefore] many of our cities will need such a refounding as well", writes @SamoBurja:

I agree. Here's my proposal to do just that:

Mom send teenagers to unsupervised, NO , they are happy:

but I REALLY have to ask: what Mrs Aitkenhead did was basically to "reinvent" (cfr the Brownsea camp of 1907). Why is this not mentioned at all? Seriously.

My friend Ken Hess just wrote _An Introduction to Podcasting_. isn't my thing, but perhaps you'll find the book useful? amzn.to/3M98guU

"It started to feel like I was the robot" is EXACTLY what I wrote 7 years ago:

So, first read here how it's happening now:

check the screenshots for thoughts and PROPOSALS about these and many more crucial topics seldom covered as I do in my newsletter... and then subscribe, of course! (thanks for sharing the invitation as much as you see fit)
