In the early days of AI, it was noted that chatbots fed with data scraped from the internet tended to go off on bizarre tangents amplifying racist, conspiracist, and Nazi ideologies.

Some work was done to reduce or eliminate this problem. But then again, there are now people in power who see it as a feature, not a problem.

With #Twitter scraping data from all of its existing users' posts–a userbase more and more tilted to the alt-right–it's easy to imagine what its AI is going to spew out.

In the end, staying true to your moral compass is paramount. If one side consistently exhibits behaviors that contradict your core beliefs, particularly when those behaviors involve egotism, authoritarianism, or a lack of basic human decency, it's entirely justifiable to refuse to align with them, regardless of any other factors at play.

It's crucial to understand that aligning with a particular group doesn't mean you endorse everything they do or say. It's possible to critique certain aspects of the "side" you generally identify with while still recognizing the fundamental incompatibility of the alternative.

However, when it comes to choosing a side, personal ethics and values should be the guiding principle. If one side consistently aligns with individuals who display behaviors that fundamentally clash with your sense of right and wrong, it's perfectly reasonable to refuse to support them, irrespective of any propaganda or exaggerations from the other side.
