My dad when the power goes out: That was interesting, the lights went out before we heard the boom [of the transformer blowing] because electrons travel faster than sound.

And by the way this is the second time in as many weeks that a transformer has blown and caused our power to go out.

@lemontart Our street lost power last night for 3-4 hours. I didn't hear a pole transformer blow, but National Grid was working on two poles in the connecting street all day. One does have a pole transformer on it.
