Nothing like an afternoon cup of illy Extra Dark Roast with Torani Chocolate Milano syrup. I swear, the taste is almost like a cup of cocoa.
Drinking illy Extra Dark Roast with 4 pumps of Torani Puremade Chocolate Milano syrup (and one scoop of Coffee-Mate), under a slight bit of duress this morning. My facial nerves are acting up again - I must have overslept my gabapentin, because it is *not* working right now. I've taken it, along with my oxycodone, and am waiting for both to kick in.
Finally testing illy Extra Dark Roast K-Cup with Torani Puremade Chocolate Milano syrup. It's an interesting mix - the chocolate doesn't overpower the coffee, and vice versa. It's more of a fusion between the two, quite pleasant to drink. Not outstanding, but just pleasant. Recommended if you're interested.
I have ordered a 16-K-Cup pack of Laughing Man Columbia Huila coffee for experimentation. It'll take a while for it to get here for some unknown reason, but I'll let you know when it arrives.
Switched over to hot Sacred Grounds Dark Horse blend K-Cups w/4 pumps of Chocolate Milano syrup. Result: *much* better. Dark Horse is usually a rather bitter brew, but the sweetness of the syrup cuts through that. The darkness of the roast compliments the bittersweet chocolate quite well.
Tried the new Torani Chocolate Milano syrup in some iced Organic Drago blend coffee. The result was slightly disappointing, probably because I stuck to the 4-pump recipe. The chocolate was watered down, compared to yesterday's hot coffee experiments. Conclusion: iced coffee probably needs a couple more pumps.
Went to see if the Torani Chocolate Milano syrup could salvage the Yuban Traditional Roast coffee K-Cups. Verdict: just barely. The bitterness is gone from yesterday's iced coffee experiment, but the same earthy tone is there beneath the dark chocolate syrup flavor. Okay in a pinch.
Well, whaddya know? I heard a knock on my door as I was typing up my last #CaffeineClub message, and when I got up to check, there was the package with the Torani Chocolate Milano syrup in it!
Of course, this called for more coffee, this time the Organic Drago blend. I bought a pump from Torani for the 750ml bottle, and the instructions said use 4 pumps per cup, so that's what I did. Result: delicious! Dark chocolate taste, no sweetener needed. Highly recommended.

Mrs. Capt. decided that she *really* liked the illy Extra Dark Roast K-Cups - enough so that she had me order a six-pack of them. It's not too often that she splurges like this, so I'm considering this a big thumbs up from her for this product.

Incidentally, the Torani Chocolate Milano syrup is scheduled to arrive by the end of the day today, and the illy K-Cups are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I think the two should go very well together. 😋
Switched to iced Yuban Traditional Roast with Salted Caramel syrup today. A bit more bitter than the Yuban 100% Columbian. Tastes earthier. Not recommended in the iced form. Will try hot tomorrow.
Drinking iced Yuban 100% Columbian coffee with Torani Salted Caramel syrup. I would be drinking iced illy Extra Dark Roast, but my wife (who's back from her Colorado vacation now) got to the last K-Cup before me. 😭
Anyway, the iced Yuban/Salted Caramel mix is really good. The mix is good hot, but the low temperature + the half & half (can't use powdered creamer) boosts the taste to another level. Recommended.
Drinking illy Extra Dark Roast this morning, with a dose of Coffee Tamer to try and cut the gas I ran into yesterday. Seems to be working. Good coffee still.
I've ordered the Torani Puremade Chocolate Milano Syrup. Brace for taste tests.
Then again, Chocolate Milano syrup looks like a winner ...

@stueytheround @InvaderGzim Good ideas all, but what I'd like to do is experiment with something that the average CoSoNaut can easily purchase and use themselves without having to cook. That's why I asked for suggestions on commercial syrups. (I'm still looking for suggestions, BTW.)
On that note, I found something: Torani Blood Orange Syrup, on sale for 10% off this month. I might get a bottle and test it out - it sounds interesting!
My house guest who's been feeding the outside cats in Mrs. Capt.'s stead just made her final coffee request prior to the Mrs.'s return: illy Extra Dark Roast with Salted Caramel Syrup. Pronounced it delicious.
I'm trying the syrup with yesterday's Yuban. It blends very well and compliments the Yuban's natural caramel notes.
I'll soon be out of the Torani Salted Caramel syrup. Will be looking for a replacement to experiment with. I could use some suggestions. Use the hashtag.
Had some illy Extra Dark Roast coffee this morning with some Torani Salted Caramel syrup mixed in. Surprising - the illy coffee is so strong that it almost totally overpowers the Salted Caramel flavoring. Still good - just unexpected.
Drinking illy's Extra Dark Roast coffee this morning. One scoop creamer, three Equals (I like it sweet). Surprising for such a dark roast - treads the line of bitterness, but *does not* cross it! Very strong taste, high cacao chocolate note. However, it gives me a lot of gas - Coffee Tamer would be advised here. Not a bad thing, just a fact of life. Recommended, but at $8.00 for a pack of 10 K-Cups, sort of expensive.
Just received part of my shipment of new coffee from Amazon. First up (because I'm falling asleep despite the freaking game being on) is Yuban 100% Columbian medium roast.
Good stuff, relatively speaking for a mass market coffee. Caramel taste. No bitterness. Smooth. Recommended.
