@Coctaanatis Human nature. I’ll get mine, devil take the hindmost. So with pantries full and other folks do without because of it, too bad for them. Suckers.

@Coctaanatis It’s panic buying/hoarding, creating a problem where there wouldn’t be one. We don’t get our TP from France, for Pete’s sake. It’s an example of H.L. Mencken’s words: “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.” Sheesh.

@Coctaanatis Hmm. More than 90% of TP consumption in this country is from product made in this country, so there seems to be a contradiction in that stat.

Toilet paper? Really? It’s being hoarded again because of the longshoremen’s strike. TP does not come from overseas, people. It’s manufactured here in the U.S.A. We still cut down American forests to make it. Imported cheese and champagne - well, you’ll have to tough that out. Unless you want to try (gasp!) cheese from Vermont and Wisconsin and bubbly from California.

@Blueway Preaching to the choir. Wake me up after Election Day. Everything between now and then is just noise.

@Gladari What, the Republican so-called influencers? We’ll see how much they mattered come Election Day. My guess, not much, and I hope I’m wrong.

So what if Walz beats Vance in the debate, that most say he will? Big yawn. What does it matter? Answer: it doesn’t. Republicans will say Vance mopped the floor with Walz, and Democrats will say the opposite. But Vance is unpopular, right? One of the most awful picks for VP of all time? Who is saying that? Democrats. Well, duh.

So Judge Cannon gets the would-be Trump assassin case. Wow. What a coincidence. I can predict his lawyers will try to get her removed because of obvious Trump bias on her part. Should be interesting.

@arthurpendragon Thanks, man. Yeah, he’s married to an American, so he could have a green card in addition to any other special work visa he might have. It just bugs me, though, that he chooses to be an “American” in his daily life but chooses to be “un-American” when it comes to golf.

@sfleetucker I know they’re not U.S. citizens, but they’re allowed to live here indefinitely, it seems. My question was why, and why they’re then allowed to compete against Americans - some of whom are their neighbors! - in international events. If they get permanent resident status here, they should have to give up their right to compete against us for the country of their birth. Jason Day can remain an ex-pat Australian, just not be allowed to compete as an
Australian when it suits him, IMO.

@MookyTroubadour I don’t get your point. You mean, compared to war and climate change and human misery they don’t matter? Well, can’t argue with that!

@arthurpendragon Well, yeah, he has retained his Australian citizenship, and that’s my point. Why does he get to stay in this country? Do athletes get some kind of special work visa?

Can someone explain to me why pro athletes get to live year-round in the U.S. and play against the U.S. in international competitions like the Olympics and the Presidents Cup? Jason Day hasn’t lived in Australia for decades, yet gets to play for Australia against us in the Presidents Cup. Will he be part of the mass deportation promised by Trump? Just wondering.

I had to laugh when I read what Harris said in response to a shooter on Trump’s golf course in Florida, apparently targeting him: “Violence has no place in America.” Well, such platitudes are expected, especially from the one running against Trump, but really? America is one of the most violent countries on Earth. Likewise, “This is not who we are.” It’s exactly who we are. Come to grips with it, people, and at least make it harder for the violent among us to commit mass violence.

The other day I was behind a box trailer being towed by a pickup waiting for the light to turn green. Subjected the whole time to a flag hanging from the trailer’s door handle proclaiming, “TRUMP. Fuck your feelings.” Now I’m not sure what that meant, but I have a good idea the truck driver was a Trump supporter. Who does stuff like that except Trump supporters? These in-your-face political statements? Signs of insecurity, maybe?

Hate to say this, but if the Republicans ran a convicted felon, a man deemed guilty of sexual assault, a man who favors the leader of one of our country’s enemies, the man who stole classified documents, a man who incited his followers to attack the Capitol to stop the new president from being certified, a man who says our country is a failing, third-world country, the election would still be close. Wait! That’s exactly what they did. And they could still win!

@ellesu Okay, maybe. Those MAGA men, though, when in the voting booth, will likely vote for Trump, because they won’t have found that reason to vote otherwise. Unlike those who hang Trump flags from their porches and trucks, they are loath to admit to a questioner that they will vote for that despicable candidate.

There are no “undecided” voters at this point in the election cycle. Those who claim to be either have already decided but don’t want to say, or don’t plan on voting.

“Coming up, Robbie Reporter talks to three people in Swing State X about what they think of the candidates for president.”

Who cares what three people sitting in a bar or ambushed off the street think? That would be a poll with a margin of error of +/- 10,000 %. Give me a break.
