I went to visit an old grove of palm trees nestled in an active earthquake fault line today. Cool stuff.

My family has been coming to the Palm Springs area for a long time. My grandfather was quite a daredevil - sports cars, yacht racing, and in 1937 he bought his first airplane, a 245 hp Stinson, just so he could get from LA to PS a bit faster than the 2-hour drive. I'm amazed he made it to age 39.

@jjmacnab If in Palm Springs visit Tahquitz Falls. It is a 1.9 mile loop trail. Betting the waterfall is nice with all the snow up in the San Jacinto Mts and snowmelt.

@Victor I've been there. Did you know that Tahquitz is responsible for the earthquakes in the area, according to local lore?

He was an evil shaman who was exiled to a cave in the canyon. When he gets pissy about his fate, he stomps his feet in rage and the ground shakes.

@jjmacnab No, was not aware of story but guessing that American Indians living in that area had to deal with San Andreas fault nearby in one form or another...
