@ToruOkada That's basically how I became an amateur keyboard player. My parents got a really old upright grand piano when I was about 7 years old. I sat down and started plinking on it. My mom had limited knowledge but showed me where middle C was, etc. We never had the money for lessons, but I just kept plinking and learning songs by ear.

I had 2 years of piano lessons when I was 8, learned the basics of reading music, but it was like deciphering code for me (my dad played, completely by sight reading, a mystery to me). I kept playing on my own from there, playing by ear, learning stuff I thought was cool, like the Beatles, Harry Nilsson. Been decades since I've had access to a keyboard. I learned to play songs completely in my head, taught myself a few tunes that way.
