Why am I seeing so many posts on COSO that contain images that look like placeholder stubs? Like this one? I copied one of the images & cropped it so it looks like what I am seeing. I don't know if this is me.

It appears something is suppressing the display/play of animated images.
There is an auto play option in settings, but that icon appears to be something external to the site and more in the browser or plug-in.

I suggest never, ever, attaching to a post an image file with the WebP extenstion, as the image can be literally anything: a still image, an animation, even a video. If users are trying to attach these files, it's no wonder COSO can't read them.
Fun fact: there is an online conversion tool for converting webp animations into gifs. I've used it.
