The Geminids are tonight! One of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year, from an asteroid, not a comet, averages about 120/hr (in a dark area)...and one that just happens to celebrate my birth each year 🥳 😂😂
This shower unusually allows some meteors to be seen even in very highly light-polluted areas (I saw two within 15 minutes from NYC one year!)
The moon is cooperating nicely at 1% waxing cresent 🌚

@corlin Dealing with very similar situation involving close family at the moment. One day they're open to the change and then the next engaging in magical thinking that they can just stay the way they are. Painful and heartbreaking since I have to be the bad guy who pushes them. Definitely not easy
It's been a really rough year overall and has been harder recently. Everything going to hell at once. No end in sight yet. Sometimes things don't get better. Just needed to throw that thought into the void somewhere

Startled a little while ago by a "severe earthquake warning" from the early warning app - it turned out to be a 5.7 out in the Delta east of Fairfield/south of Sacramento and I didn't feel a thing in the SF Bay proper, but nice to see the warning system functions #sfbayarea #earthquake
