Good morning, CoSo!

Today, like every day, is a day of transformation: a day that you enter as one person but will leave as a changed, at least slightly different person.

Your choice is whether you want just to be a witness to that transformation or a guide and director of it.

@DavidSalo That's a lovely thought and something I want to try to remember every morning

After a 14-hour workday yesterday, such a relief to have had free time today...almost feel like a whole human again!

The floor routine that secured Simone Biles' 8th national all-around title, a feat that no American gymnast in history has done before.

@LiberalLibrarian I saw the post, and the same thought had occurred to me about Black Coso maybe being useful as a way for people to find each other, but I didn't comment because as a white person, I felt it wasn't really my place to make such suggestions? But the "We need ONE Coso" reaction is really missing the point

@Shelter just dropping in as a fellowvwhite person to say I appreciate your comments today and agree about whose responsibility it is to create a space that's welcoming and diverse. Leaving others untagged because it must be tiring for Coso's BIPOC folk to read the kind of frustrating obtuseness that came up so predictably

some Rachel Carson for today:

Rachel Carson's words from seventy years ago still resonate mightily.

"It is a curious situation that the sea, from which life first arose should now be threatened by the activities of one form of that life. But the sea, though changed in a sinister way, will continue to exist; the threat is rather to life itself."

- Rachel Carson, The Sea Around Us, Revised edition(1961), page xii

@evistre Discuit has a nice, neighborly feel so far. Liking it a lot

@kenc313 I remember being on a school bus in middle school where the entire bus enthusiastically recited the full lyrics to that song!

@spacesloth That headline alone gave me a double-take, and the article is...something else

@Alfred please generate a colorful image of a hummingbird at dawn

@MLClark 1) gala, 2) Seoul, South Korea in 2123, 3) suspenseful, 4) jewel

@HopeSeeker He gave one of the first concerts I attended with just my friends and no parents. A great show way back then!

To All The New Folks.

Wellcome Home !

Lurking here on CoSo is a wonderful thing. If you are one who seldom posts, but enjoys reading, you are wanted and welcome. Posting is not required. You don't need to explain, nor in anyway feel less than, for lurking. In fact let's get rid of that word, and just say you are a reader.

All writers need readers. Reading is semi-miraculous act. And respect is due.
