wild opossum update. getting chubby, very healthy little girl.

“If we notice that we are prone to regression, and by that I mean

we're prone to fantastical excitement and handing power over to these media figures,

the thing that we can do to help ourselves is to turn your phone off, is to

stop subjecting yourself to certain hypnotic streams of manipulation.

And that's a form of humility, that if we know that, God, if I open that news channel, I'm going to be watching it for six hours because that happens every time.”

“often the very vague archetypal memory of that can haunt us. Often people, for instance, that feel suicidal, are longing unconsciously to go back to the great mother where there is nothing that they need to do.

Consequently, we can be so easily seduced by any kind of an authority figure who says that they will do it for us,

and that we can inch towards that blissful dependency where little to nothing is required from us. So that can be a kind of seductive loyalty."

“once we start adding anthropomorphic images to natural phenomena, we are trying to take something that we really cannot control and turn it into a person who we can interact with, negotiate with, offer sacrifices to.

we have to try to reduce our existential anxiety in one part, to try to minimize the suffering that nature can cause us

we really do see harsh and life-threatening things that nature serves up to us.

we're trying to figure out some way to not be in a constant state of horror.”

“Man feels himself isolated in the cosmos.

no longer involved in nature and without emotional participation in natural events,

immediate communication with nature has gone forever, and the emotional energy it generates has sunk into the unconscious.”

LET US:

“restore that strata of the mythic, of the psychic to the natural phenomena

move around the mythology of volcanoes and use it as a metaphor,

to return the spirit to the physical.”

“Robert Moore leads a workshop on the cross-cultural mythology of the struggle for Cosmos for a just and peaceful world order.

In addition to analyzing the central characteristics of the mythology of Cosmos, this workshop examines the ties between selfhood and world-making, inner work and outer engagement, personal dreaming, and the world future.

to understand how Biden's ritual self-sacrifice opened the latent psychic energies now widespread in the Harris/Walz campaign

Robert Moore discusses how the ritual containment of grandiose energies in indigenous and traditional cultures surpasses contemporary means.

the crucial importance of making conscious sacrifice in relationship to the collective unconscious.

"these two things going on, you've got a stream of consciousness flowing through, and

then you've got an I that's selecting pieces in that stream,

looking at them, dropping them, looking at them,

that's the way your ego is working most of the time.

It's hard to just focus on one thing and let the whole stream keep on going, you know, that's a discipline.”

“we are all basically on the same path, this is his conclusion. Whether you are in a Christian tradition of the Christ within,

whether you are in the Taoist tradition and you speak of the Tao,

whether you are in a Buddhist tradition and speak of achieving the Buddhahood, enlightenment, consciousness,

whether you are in analysis and you speak about breaking participación, mystique, becoming conscious,

everybody is on the same path, he says. So it must come from this level down here."

Molly and kits update.

they didn't appear for almost a week, although there were holes and dirty water.

then, 2 days ago, the Bold kit appeared alone, coming right up to me like a cat twirling around my legs. i filled the food bowl, set out a few peanuts. it all got eaten and then Bold vanished.

today, about an hour later than usual, all 3 appeared. i set out 3 bowls, and some peanuts.
the peanuts were left for the squirrels and only about ½ the food was eaten, mainly by the kits.
then, gone.

another talk on trickster: the sacred boundary crosser.

making a distinction.

"very much in the news is a former president who the pundits have called out as being Trickster in chief.

And I just wondered if you had any thoughts about that?

I do. So several things to say. One is the ancient mythology says that

YOU DO NOT put this character in the center of your world."

“So the whole sweep of the issues, and I want you to be thinking about these things, is

the challenge of getting from unconscious sacrifice to conscious sacrificial process.

And by so doing, become able to engage in creative sacrificial process,

which really can transform a wasteland, either personal or social, into a land of plenty, a land of plentitude, of roma.

So that's really the subtext underneath all this.”

"I wonder sometimes if technology is actually beginning to consume the bandwidth of attention and awareness

that might otherwise go into consciousness, meaning does technology eventually have the power to separate us from connection to the soul?

The short answer is yes.

The Social Dilemma, a series of interviews of heads of some of the largest companies, Google, Facebook.

Google is selling our attention, our eyeballs. So there's no question that our attention has been commodified.”

"Blake's drawing of Dante drinking from the River of Light,

coming from the sky, this infinite luminous stream of light,

Dante on his knees with his hands cupped drinking.

And I was stunned.

he didn't realize, or maybe he did, but he did a portrait of himself.

And then as I stood there more, I said,

this is a portrait of me too. And every writer who's ever opened themselves to be a conduit between the infinite source of life and have it coming pour through us to everyone around us.”

"perhaps the serious nature of the planet's condition is the counterpoint to our embrace of technology,

it is causing us to pay attention to the natural world so that we're creating a balance and that reverence.

We're talking about religion here and religion invokes reverence, right?

Perhaps the planet is calling our attention to a missing piece of what goes into the New Munis Experience and that is

to care for the natural world again.”

"fundamentalism is a negative reaction.

It wants to go back and find security and retreat in the past and hold on to the values because the

fundamentalists seem to be most afraid that big science and tradition is going to be lost because it's going to be replaced by big science and secular rationalism.

So they, I think more than anything, are very scared of losing what gives them meaning, what gives them purpose in life."
