Some take issue with Canadian artist Edward Burtynsky’s work because it aestheticizes the climate crisis, but I think the visual tension between beauty and violence compels viewers like me to slow down and take the time to really see the scars we've made, and to contemplate the environmental crisis and its many injustices.

Thank you for not mentioning fascism, BBC. Wouldn't want to upset your relationship with the incoming administration.

while he does paint women for the male gaze (which male painter doesn't?) i do like some of the fanciful nature of his scenes. and i like the way he paints men. in suits.

maybe i just like him b/c i think he's a shoe fetishist & i could make him my sub. 😉
