Amaryllis are starting to bloom. They never make it for Christmas. Usually February 🤷🏼‍♀️

@gemswinc

My amaryllis are blooming now too. I buy them after Christmas when the go on sale- so they’re free to bloom whenever they want!

@gemswinc
I’m actually in a panic for my OUTDOOR PLANTS! I live near Seattle, the climate crisis is definitely affecting the weather! My plants and shrubs all started growing and leafing out in FEBRUARY! Then temps dropped blow freezing the first week in March! I’ve got ferns and hydrangeas acting like it’s late Spring! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🙏

My spring keeps coming early and confusing all the plants and trees, sometimes several times a year. In the last 2 years we started having extreme March storms (unusual in my area) that damage fruit blossoms. I am in an ag region where even experienced orchardists and farmers have ZERO idea what comes next at any time and are tearing their hair out.

@peeppeepcircus

yes, it happened here too. lots of apple losses last year. nobody knows what to expect.

i mean weather has always been a gamble, but the odds now are impossible to forecast.

@peeppeepcircus Everything is indeed confused, this instability will likely persist for our lifetimes @holon42 @QueenOfEverything

Remember the good old days of gardening before - we never had to worry about when the daffodils popped up, but still worried- occasionally- if the fruit trees or sensitive tulips came early- because frost could zap them?

The Farmer’s Almanac can’t keep up now 🙃

@QueenOfEverything @peeppeepcircus @holon42 Nor can I, and I have 30yrs of garden records/routines 🤷‍♀️

@holon42 @QueenOfEverything I'm worried here too. Plants, birds think full-on Spring, but I'm afraid of a return of winter ..

@LnzyHou I've had these for years, and they've multiplied. I keep them outdoors in season, let them dry out and rest inside from September to Thanksgiving, start watering. They are sold in this ready-to-bloom state

@gemswinc

I buy Amaryllis bulbs every September/Oct at Ace Hardware for $6.99 on sale.

Planted in November I get these blossoms by Christmas.

Give me great joy.

@LnzyHou 😃 Then you knew their care. I bought mine to bloom for Christmas but they never did

@gemswinc

My mother planted them in her yard in FL. They come up beautifully every year.
