Umm...
In 1941 there were ~133M people in the US.
For the past 30+ years, there were ~140M births per year worldwide (of which ~4M were in the US), and nearly as many deaths.
The world is lot bigger than the US.
Why do you think that's mind-blowing?

There are more people born every year than were alive in the entire world in 200BC.
