We got really lucky... again. There's plenty of damage nearby, but our humble blue dot was spared. The images and accounts being posted on SM this morning are humbling. That storm line raged for over 200 miles.
Hey, neighbor. How are you? Any storm issues?
Okay, so that was fun - spending an intense hour crammed in the bathroom with the kids & cat as nature unleashed its wrath. What sunrise is soon reveal, will be interesting, no doubt.

That's certainly a topic with many layers. A small, albeit important aspect, would be to decriminalize bartering. Sure, governments won't entertain the notion because they see no tax revenue, and have no control over bartered goods/services. However, in economically challenged locales, bartering is often a saving grace for populations about whom their ruling governments simply do not give a damn.

Right?! It's not just Alexa, either. Here in the Ozarks, I've gotten some amusing transcripts from messages left on Google Voice. Apparently, regional dialects are problematic, but at least they can provide a measure of comic relief every so often.
I wasn't thrilled with Division Bell on CD, but the 1st night of the D.C. tour stops was amazing.
Eagerly anticipating arrival of the replacement modem after a spate of delays. The extended period of limited data access was mostly manageable, except that our carrier's local towers have been glitchier than normal. It's concerning when one considers how truly dependent society has become on modern communications technology. For years I've wanted to pursue getting a #HamRadio license and equipment to support the rural comms safety net. Guess what? The time has come to do this.
It's no secret that Memorial Day weekend is a period when there is increased traffic throughout America. As such, naturally, the odds of vehicle accidents increases as well. Wherever one may be, please exercise extra common sense behind the wheel. Lives depend on it.

That jackhole still hasn't been found yet? 🤬
A yellow jacket nest once showed up on my balcony and the maintenance guy tried to use some pesticide on them. It only pissed them off. He also knocked their nest down onto the sidewalk below and that only pissed them off more. They came at the sliding glass door like a barrage. I finally got rid of them a few days later with a spray bottle of dawn soap and water. They didn’t like that either, they floated around and gave me the stink eye but they never returned.
Good grief, what a week it's been. Not going into a play-by-play, but I'm not really bent about our modem's demise roughly an hour ago. Given the gauntlet the kids and I ran, no house internet for a few days gives us a welcome and overdue period to hang out together playing console games and being generally silly. Yeah, this is exactly what we need right now. 😄
Hold my... coffee.
@sentientdessert @PaganMother got this from someone else here on CoSo, and I hold it close to my heart now. Every time I hear “you must tolerate my intolerance” I remind myself of this:
Excellent information, thank you.
@fugitive247 Many Home Depot stores have a bin for worn-out flags, and most if not all VFW will take old flags to ensure they're recycled or burned properly.
