Has anyone played with Meshtastic.
I just found this a much more useable node. It is still rough around the edges, especially in software.

I am always looking for off grid communications solutions.

Does it use Matter or is another home-grown “standard?” Thread was designed by one of the big boys in Bluetooth, Zigbee (I was in the Bluetooth industry until I retired).

Since then Apple, Google and Qualcomm are part of it. It’s an open standard (unlike Bluetooth which should die die die).

It’s mesh, low power (whine BT your LP sucked), and did I mention open?

Hopefully this kills BT dead. BT, internally, is an awful standard.

Meshtastic utilizes LoRa, a long-range radio protocol, which is widely accessible in most regions without the need for additional licenses or certifications, unlike HAM radio operations.

Oh. LoRa. It’s one of many old standards that use UWB. The company I worked for also did UWB

UWB is what’s uses in Apple Tags and, again, the same people are part of FiRa.
