No, this is again a myth. The US is NOT ACTIVELY defending those countries. This is silly. When was Italy last invaded?

The reality is that the bases assure local businesses a revenue steam (just like in the US). The Pentagon would love to shut down bases. They serve no purpose.

I ask you, how many counties have bases in the US?
