@Meekspees My sister-in-law has Weimaraners. Historically, those dogs have their tails cut ("docked") as puppies. Her dog had puppies. She didn't want to do that, thinking it cruel.

She found out *WHY* they do it. Apparently weimaraners have no pain nerves in their tails. She came home one day to find her "mud room" (where the puppies were being holed up) looking like a murder scene. One of the puppies had apparently wagged its tail so hard into something, it caused a bleeding wound.

Spraying blood all over the room.

She docked their tails.

The puppy was fine after minor medical treatment.
