@stueytheround late reply 😆

All good here mate...although could do with a kip but whatchya gonna do lol

Hope things are good with you?

@ecksmc Apart from the usual unpredicatable sleep "patterns" I'm doing great bro.

@ecksmc @stueytheround

Well, slap me silly and call me a butterfly in Tokyo.

I suppose with a large enough sample size, anything can be a pattern.

I just downed my second energy drink trying to get some sleep...
😂😂
(My brain is weird, this was a suggestions from my neuropsychologist that specializes in alertness)

@Fiikus_goddess @stueytheround

Energy drink yuk coffee though I can drink coffee late at night then dose off for 4-ish hours

Caffeine calms my brain down helps me with sleep at times so I guess energy drinks might help some also 😉

I forget the proper name for it. I bet Hobbit knows. Paradoxical response?

@stueytheround @Fiikus_goddess An example of a paradoxical reaction is pain caused by a pain relief medication.

Paradoxical reactions may be more common in people with ADHD also

@ecksmc @stueytheround
It its something equivalent to that, but has to do with brain alertness draining the energy reserves to the red. In order to sleep, brain needs energy 😱 my headaches have caused a similar effect on brain energy depletion that is seen in brain injuries.

The energy drinks I use are just pure caffeine, no taurine. Taurine does nothing for me. Food, sugar and caffeine are the best resources for the brain to regain the energy to be able to sleep.

@Fiikus_goddess @ecksmc
This is all fascinating to me.
I'm on the (very long thanks to covid delaying everything) waiting list for ADHD diagnosis. Everything I experience points in that direction, but without the right kind of doctor saying I have it, I can't access medication or support programs.
I'll get there though.

Follow

@stueytheround medication will help that said for me it's a no, no lol there are loadsa ways to cope, once you are diagnosed that is, without meds but that's a personal choice off course and a lot to learn & teach yourself as you do need to personalise it to suit you... we are all different...took me a while reprogramming ma brain so to speak with methods to use for certain things

@Fiikus_goddess hope they energy drinks do there work for ya 😉

@ecksmc Oh yeah! I pop enough pills already with the diabetes. I'll be happy with whatever combo works best.
Just help with being able to learn better strategies would be a great start.

Tips For Impulsive Moments which I had loadsa issues with

turn an imaginary key in my pocket to “lock” my mouth when I want to say something impulsively.

Do Morse code with my fingers helps me focus when walking anywhere.
start each day with a five-minute mindfulness session

mentally erase the faces of people that I have an urge to say something personal to this helps me address the problem, not the person.

Just a few I find helpful

This YouTube channel is pretty good "how to ADHD"

Few days ago she posted a video ADHD and trauma overlap which most of us will no doubt have that overlapping its something we need to figure out
