Have you considered a 30-series? Probably a better value -and- you won’t need as much power.
@amarand it sounds like a thing. I'll weigh my options and see how much I want to mess with.
The 40-series had, in the beginning, such high power requirements that they had to design a new power connector, which melted...and caused fires. I'm sure they fixed that, right? 🙀
@amarand that would explain why they all came with 8 pin to 16 pin cables. Also, that sounds like Crysis 3 and their melting video cards thing.
Yup. Be extra extra careful with the 40’s if you decide to go that route. Only use certified cables. Fire and melting sucks.
@amarand ill definitely keep this in mind. Thanks!
@amarand the guy at the store said that was just on the 4090s, and it was an issue with the connector that he swore has been fixed. But juuust in case, I went with a 4080 and now I'm going to play all my games on max settings.
Awesome! May your rig stay fire-free! 😹

Just remember the 40-series is going to have potentially increased power requirements and also alternate cabling. It’s a whole thing. Good luck!
