@Oma_Trisha @JohnnyGenX agreed! there are at least 4 paths in order of odds (imho): 1) Rs find a way to get enough of their party to vote for a speaker. 2) Members don't show/fall ill, and the vote goes through (simple majority of those there, as you said!). 3) Ds vote for an R speaker (and gain concessions). 4) Dolly Parton is nominated and wins. 5) Rs vote for the D's nominee (and gain concessions).

@JohnnyGenX I see your point, it would be a good outcome. But to say that this is any fault of the non-chaos party imho is unfair.

@JohnnyGenX You are suggesting that one party ask the other to vote for the their candidate (not of their party). Do you think that could actually work? Would you provide an example of a house speaker elected like this in U.S. History?
