Frankly, I prefer to see ads based on my interests and products/services I might want to purchase than totally random ads that utterly miss their intended audience. I'm not a conservative white male Christian evangelical just because I live in the Deep South, for example. I'd rather see ads that do fit my demographic.
@divisionbyzero I always get a good chuckle when I see something so off the mark for me in ads/recommendations
