My father always urged me to work for Ma Bell. He considered it a “ good job” for women.

Isn’t it amazing how much things can change in just a generation? I’m close to 70 years old. Dad was in advertising/marketing. Mum, of course, was a registered nurse.

We encouraged our daughter to pursue what she desired. She’s a professional engineer. At age 32 she’s senior/managing engineer in her department at a large city. If she *wanted* to work for Bell or as a nurse that would’ve been fine, too. But it mattered that she successfully did what she wanted.

Good for you. I taught my daughter she could be whatever she wanted to be.

She has her own tech company with 15 employees and never wanted my kind of life so stayed single. She is happy.

I love that! Especially the “she is happy” part. It’s all we ever really demanded from our kids.
