@disk4mat I have lived in Canada every second of my 67 years, and have never heard anyone, other than an American, pronounce the word "aboot".

I agree, I think it is just some countries hear a newfoundland accent and think that is what we all sound like.

I think it's because, in the U.S., they tend to pronounce "ou" as "oww"; thus, when they hear our "out," it sounds clipped like "oot." We pronounce it the same as a Brit would.

Don't get me started on Canada pronounced: "Kenada."
