how many other presidents have "enemies in government"?! I can only think of Richard "when the president does it, then it's not illegal" Nixon. that's an insane statement right out of the gate that shows how egregiously Trump abused the office and how important it is to hold even former presidents accountable for their crimes, lest we assert that the president is, in fact, above the law.
shit, if Bret Stephens is over 100 years old that does explain why he's so wrong about everything all the time.
the only conventional wisdom Maureen Dowd challenges is the appropriateness of relentless puns in esteemed journalistic publications.
Ross Douthat is "just asking (essential) questions!" like the Tucker Carlson of newspapers.
then why are all their opinion pieces phrased in a way that tells readers what to think, and specifically to think "conservatives are right"? I am not delighted by reading regressive justifications and defenses of bigotry. I don't need help thinking for myself and certainly not from some "why you should hate the people I hate" opinion piece. I expect ALL aspects of a newspaper to affirm what is factually correct and ethically valid.
