it is plain bad faith to pretend that the Senate was voting on the facts of whether Trump violated the 14th amendment. the man could have handed the nuclear football to Putin on the Senate floor and Republican senators would still vote not guilty. that the Senate acquitted him is entirely irrelevant to the question of whether he broke the law or is unfit to serve.

the electorate has demonstrated that they can't be trusted to make decisions in line with the rule of law or in the best interests of the country itself. if it's anti democratic to say "no you can't elect a dead gorilla as president, I don't care how many of you think it's a hilarious meme," then I guess I'm anti democratic. the fact that they're voting for him despite his hundreds of crimes shows they're not voting in good faith, they're voting for revenge.

then what the fuck should it be used for, you stupid bitch? it was written specifically in answer to Confederate voters "electing the candidates of their choice" and sending unrepentant secessionists back to Congress to foment another civil war. even the electoral college itself was designed to keep the will of the people in check so they don't elect some syphilitic tyrant because they like how he says fuckwords.

@Wbtphdjd the electoral college stuck us with Trump because it failed to do the thing it was created to do. electors have the authority to cast ballots against the vote of their state, when their state elects someone who poses a threat to the interests of the country. they should have blocked Trump from taking office in 2016, and if it comes to it they should do so in 2024.
