the electorate has demonstrated that they can't be trusted to make decisions in line with the rule of law or in the best interests of the country itself. if it's anti democratic to say "no you can't elect a dead gorilla as president, I don't care how many of you think it's a hilarious meme," then I guess I'm anti democratic. the fact that they're voting for him despite his hundreds of crimes shows they're not voting in good faith, they're voting for revenge.
Really?
How'd Biden manage to win with such an untrustworthy electorate? Why didn't this electorate deliver the "red tsunami" everyone swore they were heading for last year?
So, you're taking a bold stance against allowing people to vote if you don't like their reasoning?
@mcfate I'm taking the bold stance of not allowing people to vote for criminals and self-avowed dictators, yes.
That's not what you said, and Rethuglicans say Biden's a criminal and a dictator.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Here's what you said: "the electorate has demonstrated that they can't be trusted to make decisions in line with the rule of law or in the best interests of the country itself."
"The electorate" is everyone who's registered to vote. Not just the ones who make you upset.
@mcfate the electorate is also the people who are poised to nominate Trump for another term, and the people currently giving him the lead over Biden in polls. maybe you feel comfortable rolling the dice on those people coming to their senses in the actual election but I don't. and if you have such a problem with my posts, you don't have to read them.
@mcfate only one of those people actually has criminal charges against him and literally said he would be a dictator.
Actually, this thread is nonsensical, and I'm putting you down an oubliette.
@Wbtphdjd the electoral college stuck us with Trump because it failed to do the thing it was created to do. electors have the authority to cast ballots against the vote of their state, when their state elects someone who poses a threat to the interests of the country. they should have blocked Trump from taking office in 2016, and if it comes to it they should do so in 2024.
@Wbtphdjd the fact that we cast votes at all means we do have a democracy. any healthy democracy still needs guardrails.
then what the fuck should it be used for, you stupid bitch? it was written specifically in answer to Confederate voters "electing the candidates of their choice" and sending unrepentant secessionists back to Congress to foment another civil war. even the electoral college itself was designed to keep the will of the people in check so they don't elect some syphilitic tyrant because they like how he says fuckwords.
