After I empty the 30 lb bag of dog food in the vittles vault, I flatten the bag, roll it up, fold it over, and then put it in the trash. People tell me this is weird, but I maintain that it's smart. It takes up hardly any space in the trash which means I can get more in the bag before having to take it to the dumpster.
Totally down with that.
I tend to fold most packaging rather than balling it up coz it does take up waaaay less space. We sometimes skip putting out the garbage for a month since there’s still space in the can.
Also my dad was an Air Force Reservist so *everything* had to be carefully and precisely folded, so there’s that…
@dauphin87 It is not being weird but methodical and with a sense of practicality. I have a stash of plastic grocery bags that I neatly fold and stack in vehicle glove box for reuse. Wife just stuffs a whole bunch of them into one and throws them into back of her car. When I go into the store I just put folded bag into my back pocket and walk around. I can easily fit 3 folded bags in back pocket.
@dauphin87 How is it weird to make the trash smaller to fit? We do the same thing.
@dauphin87 I take the empty bag 30lb cat food bag and use it for my next trash bag, they are much heavier and less likely to leak than the plastic ones - that way they take up no space in the bag. I do flatten most stuff before throwing it away.
