My name IRL sounds a lot like, "Siri". People who say my name in virtual meetings are constantly triggering Siri, "I do not understand that request." It's happened hundreds of times since virtual work became a thing for me, not even exaggerating.

@misslovelymess I have an acquaintance who's name is really "Siri." I feel so sorry for her.

@sfleetucker I always feel the need to apologize, so I can imagine how she feels.

@misslovelymess You shouldn't. You both had your names before Apple appropriated them.

@sfleetucker It's really something when people get flustered when they don't know why their phone is going off, and I have to tell them to please stop saying my name.

A trans friend picked "Alexa" as her name about 6 months before Amazon released their Alexa.

@danalan @misslovelymess Ouch. Now that’s something to regret which has nothing to do with being trans.
