I just read this story about a "Conservative Christian Couple" and what happened when their son came out as gay. This one part where the dad said, "You could be an axe murderer, and we would always love you. But we need to get you fixed.” 😑

Anyhow after lots of judgement from their church buddies, an almost suicide attempt from the dad, a cancer scare for the mom, and almost total estrangement from their son, they finally were able to accept who he is and help other people in church etc.

It was a story with a happy ending, but I found myself getting annoyed because if it had been someone else's son, they would have been the same judgemental pricks as the rest of their churchy friends.

It's like that "Imagine if she was your daughter" stuff. She's someone's daughter. She's someone in her own right.

I get that most people don't care about shit until it happens to them - I don't know maybe I'm just bitchy today.
