I’ve never been in the military.

But if you are running for office, here are my thoughts:

• Don’t accuse others of not being in combat when you ALSO never saw combat

• Don’t lie because you wrote a book that details what you actually did

• Don’t imply other’s service is less honorable than your own

• Don’t pretend you are a better soldier

• Don’t use others who have no first hand knowledge to be your mouthpieces for attack

• Don’t pretend you are the voice for all veterans.

I wasn't alive when Paris was liberated (25 Aug. '44), but I sure would have loved to have been there. There was temporary but overwhelming joy in the midst of chaos and suffering. The war wasn't over by any means, but everyone could feel it would be.

This is what it feels like today.
