Well it's 96°F in the shade.
I have retreated to a dark house, with several fans, to not move from my chair. I know that this is not real heat to many. But to me in the PNW, habituated to gray and rainy days. This is not comfortable.
Ice Tai coffee. Please.
@corlin You need to build a poor man Air conditioner. They work I promise.
Ya.
Maybe.But it’s only a few days a year.
@corlin Exactly you save the parts for next time.
@corlin stay cool, friend. <3 remember your water and electrolutes in addition to your iced coffee. :)
i've got my bedroom and hallway semi-sealed off from the rest of the house (curtain over the hallway entrance, so that cats can still come and go) and AC on.
@corlin mmmm but that coffee sounds amazong
@corlin aww corlin are you nearby? I'm not far from my hometown of PDX
For the newer folks.
Where I live:
The Willamette National Forest.
For operational security, I ain't telling anyone exactly where I live.
If you do a map search for Idanha Oregon.
And a map search for the junction of Oregon 22, and Oregon 20.
I am somewhere between those two points.
@corlin such a lovely and beloved area! I know the area fairly well!
@mims
Yep.
Magical.
@corlin I usually do mine with just the cream and condensed milk… now I’m going to have to make another batch to try this. ☺️ thx
This was not in my “move to Washington “ packet sent by my daughters. It’s 90+ and my entire garden is melting! I didn’t care that much about the lawn… but I didn’t want it to go TOASTED BROWN! I hand water all my raised containers every day…. But it’s not enough. Just ordered a 100’ G Force hose and an Eden sprinkler that can cover 4000 sq ft. Will spend the weekend mapping out my watering zones. The water pressure is soooooo low here- it’s a real challenge!
@QueenOfEverything @corlin In Bellingham WA we let the lawn go brown in summer. It was just dormant and would come back green with the fall rains.

I just got in- almost 10 pm! It's just too hot in the morning. Started working in the yard at 4 pm and got a lot accomplished. I put 2" of steer manure on every dahlia bed. My Sluggo Plus arrives tomorrow!
The problem with the HUGE yard I've got (renting)- there's very little grass in the lawn- every single weed is growing just fine. I've got brown grass but weeds that are 4-6" tall! So it looks really tacky. I have to mow the WEEDS.
@QueenOfEverything Oh no! 😆. You should borrow a few goats!
@corlin So humid here, too. I made myself an iced coffee and even added cream and sugar as a treat. It was really good.
@corlin When I was a kid in Texas with no AC, we would get ice cubes and let them drip on us as they melted in the heat. Then wet a cloth and put it around our necks with the fan blowing directly on us. Maybe that would help. It is hot everywhere right now and I feel for you up in the PNW.

Now that hot weather is here. It's time to make Thai iced coffee.
Start with cold brewed coffee.
https://world.hey.com/corlin/cold-brewed-coffee-c4d56675
Then for every 2 cups of finished drink,
Heat in sauce pan
1/4 cup of heavy cream
3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/4 teaspoon of ground cardamom
Do not let it come close to boil.
Set aside to cool.
Combine cold coffee, and cream mixer, in a tall glass with 1 or 2 ice cubes.
