AI Is a False God. “The idea that AI will lead us to some grand utopia is deeply flawed. Technology does, in fact, turn over new ground, but what was there in soil doesn’t merely go away.”

Likewise. There is no way to regulate it.
I'm actually not that worried about AI. Humans scare me much worse.
The obsession with AI is proof of concept of how much we’d collectively love for the machines to actually give us something new and someone other. But it is very far from this. What it is giving us is Narcissus mirror. Captivating, but not new.
Augmentation is not creation.
What is reflected in Narcissus's mirror but its lack of humanness.
Humans with AI is the issue.
@corlin I'm not sure how anyone thinks taking piles of everything, wadding it up into a ball, and making bad photocopies of bad photocopies is going to turn into something good.
I'm reminded of a kid's TV educational show from back when, where they got all the chemicals known to be in the human body, tossed them in a barrel, and showed people that it's just sludge when you do it like that, even if you stir it with a stick.
@corlin Few things scare the bejeezuz out of me, but AI is right up there.
