We're coming up on the 50th anniversary of this appearance on TOTP (back before that acronym had anything to do with auth).
It's Robert Wyatt with Neil Diamond's "I'm a Believer" (with help from Andy Summers [Police], Nick Mason [Pink Floyd], Richard Sinclair [Caravan, Hatfield & the North] and Fred Frith [Henry Cow])
Today's pick is {gulp} Boy George. Yep, you read that right.
But I know you can handle it.
Here he is singing with the Nigel Kennedy Quintet, on the song "Riverman"
Pretty excellent way to close out a long week.
Today's pick is "Starburster" by Fontaines D.C. (that chorus!)
Album comes out in 2 days.
Slow down. Take a breath.
Here is "Omstart" by Cornelius.
"𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴
𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦'𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴"
Today's earworm is Rubber Bullets by 10cc.
This one goes out to all of the finger-snappin' toe-tappin' souls on my yacht today.
It's the Alessi Brothers with "Oh Lori"
A friend turned me on to this group, and - holy wow. Hard to categorize their mix of funk, disco, raw post rock and just plain altCrazy. Love them!
Here is their version of Herbie Hancock's "Chameleon" (although I simultaneously reminisce about Maynard Ferguson, James Brown and Igorrr while listening to it. When has THAT ever happened?)
I confess, ever since I first heard their song "Beehive", I've been in love with the band Meer.
Just dig their sound and their songwriting.
Here's a new release from them, "Chains of Changes"
Connie Converse's "Father Neptune" sung by The Ladies:
Sunday's music deep dive is Connie Converse, based on this article:
Am in a strange mood today.
So am embracing it.
Dig it with me. Here is "Samba De Verão" by Walter Wanderley
Music for a tough week. I usually listen to this on low volume, as an ambient background, but today it's cranked it up enough to hear the low-end rumble.
Worth it. Am hearing little details not noticed before.
I posted a song from one of my favorite singers (Perla Batalla) a few days ago.
And wow. Got a surprise today.
Just found out she's releasing a new album on September 21, the day prior to what would have been Leonard Cohen's 90th birthday (she collaborated and sang with Cohen for more than 20 years).
This preview video was released 3 days ago. Here's her cover of "Democracy"
Today's song is for A Magical Isle.
For whatever reason it was playing in my head when I woke up this morning.
Here's "Kalynda" by Renaissance.
For my musically adventurous friends.
Check out this entire album. It's experimental, slightly avant-garde at times, but — for me, anyway — it's ultimately very rewarding. If you don't like a particular track, just give it a minute or two.

P.S. Can anyone find out who's singing in "Quantum Part 1 (Opening section)" It sounds a lot like Björk, but she would have only been 7 or 8 at the time, so not her.

It's rock-out-loud day at Code's house, so here's a new cut from a band I find very interesting. Turn it up!
"Inside" by Mother of Millions
Yep, it's time for my (roughly) twice-a-year post of this guy and his music.
Tigran Hamasyan instantly made my "live concerts before I die" list when I saw this video.
Just a genius performance.
It may be pure corn to some, but I offer no apologies for this pick... one of my favorite songs is "Time After Time".
Here is Eva Cassidy's rendition:
Needing some comfort music today. Here is Alan Parsons with Jason Mraz.
