OK, I freely admit that I fit the older-guy cliché and dig Steely Dan. How can I resist that vibe? It's somewhere between yacht rock and blue-eyed soul.
But yesterday I heard a report that Gen-Zs are now discovering SD and really getting into it.
Well, if you also dig that style, here's a playlist for you. Maybe it'll help with a little mood boost:

The soundtrack to this amazing-looking documentary came out today. Really anxious to see the movie, looks fascinating!

Not a daily pick, but a bonus #rocktrumpet remix just released today
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
For day 2 of #rocktrumpet, here is Crabfoot by The Flock.
Not a daily pick, but a bonus #rocktrumpet cover tune, well executed. TURN IT UP
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
As a horn player (trumpet, sax, trombone) I dig finding great music that features these instruments, especially rock and funk. So my next few picks will focus on #rocktrumpet
Here is Nucleus with Phaideaux Corner.
The Enid's style is immediately recognizable thanks to the influence of composer Robert John Godfrey (yet another musical genius), melding mostly prog rock and deep classical elements.
Despite the band's tumultuous time evident during this period, I really favor the Joe Payne era of Enid.
Here are some choice cuts:

Code's eclectic music pick(s!) of the day:
The Dear Hunter consistently crafts truly interesting music. I have no idea why they're not more well-known, but I can tell you that if you spend a few minutes sampling songs from their evolving catalog, you might agree that they have something special. Here are four cuts to give you a taste of what to expect on your journey:

What's better than having two drummers in a rock band? Having two drummers on a rotating turntable, suspended sideways.
For your listening and viewing - uhhh - pleasure?
Here is Winny Puhh with "Meiecundimees üks Korsakov läks eile Lätti"
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
I can't tell you how or why today's pick means so much to me. Not just this song, but all of this band's more recent efforts. They had huge hits in the 80's, yet never interested me. Then I heard this, and saw some interviews with the genius Paddy McAloon.
Try this haunting 22 minute song. If you dig it, check the albums since ~1990. Well worth the effort.
Here is I Trawl the Megahertz by Prefab Sprout.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Here is "Penelope" by Pinback.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Feeling blue today. Which is OK, it seems that melancholy is my natural resting state. So let's lean into some blues together. Here's Yusef Lateef on oboe playing Trouble in Mind. And check the rest of the lineup, doesn't get much better than this (The Cannonball Adderley Sextet).
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
For my somewhat pensive Saturday mood, here is Galatea's Guitar, by Gábor Szabó
James Morrison with a composition called "Snappy Too". James plays every instrument and every part in this piece except for the drums (but he could probably also swing that in a pinch)
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Yeah, OK, I've probably picked too many Jeff Lynne/ELO songs lately, but I feel like this short Dylanesque piece is largely unknown, and it contains a timely message.
So here is "Save me Now" by Jeff Lynne.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
48 years ago (!), this group released an album that fused baroque music with synth rock (and had nothing to do with Christmas). Initially the album was marketed to high-end audio stores, as the recording was a great test for amps and speakers, and provided a very dynamic experience for audiophiles. I'll never forget how it sounded on Klipschorns and 800 watt amps.
Here Mannheim Steamroller's "Toccata"
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Time to close your eyes for 2 minutes and 45 seconds, take some deep breaths and just chill. Unless you are, ya' know, driving or something.
And hey, while you're at it, maybe listen to Sinj Clarke's "Unas Horas", which happens to fit into that time slot perfectly.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
One of my favorite guitarists. If you ever get a chance to see him live, take it. His playing is mesmerizing. And each time I've heard him live, the audience is silent, unlike so many other shows these days.
Not the most pristine recording, but here is Adrian Legg live playing "Midwest Sunday"
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
The Tea Club with "If I Mean When"
Listening now: If you dig prog with a tinge of metal, this whole album is a treat.
"As the Waters Cover the Sea" by Umpfel.
