Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Lately I feel that my "eclectic" picks have been not very eclectic (I've been on a bit of a power pop jag) so will ask Spotify for some random choices from my personal playlists. 🙂
Here is "Pardon Me, I have to Go Now" by HANABIE 【花冷え。】 - お先に失礼します。
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
"Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" by Klaatu
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
"The King of the Scene" by Michael Carpenter
Guess I'm in a goofy song mood today. Probably has something to do with feeling nervously, cautiously happy, I'm sure.
Here is Brad Brooks with "Juliette Lewis Day Off"
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
"Code Monkey" by Jonathan Coulton
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
"Bitter" by Palace.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 7 of #elophilia music week.
Here is "The Story of Me" by The Everly Brothers. Written/composed and arranged by Jeff Lynne.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 6 of #elophilia music week.
Here is the song "Poor Little Fool" by Helen Reddy (!).
Written/composed by... well, by now you already know who I'm gonna say, and yes, you can tell just by listening.
Sermon created one of my fave albums of 2019. A one-man band (who remains anonymous) this is melancholic metal that can also hit hard, with deep and brave lyrics. Their latest release came out (in full) today, and - WOW. If you dig metal that also has some lyrical depth, check out the album "Of Golden Verse." I've already posted one track today, here's another that I had to play three times in a row just now.
Wake the Silent
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 5 of #elophilia music week.
The song "Let It Run" from the movie Electric Dreams, by Jeff Lynne. Great 80's cheese for a wonderfully bright day.
Also check "Video" from that same soundtrack.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 4 of #elophilia music week.
Here is George Harrison, with When We Was Fab. Co-written and produced by Jeff Lynne.
As if you couldn't tell just by listening. 🙂
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 3 of #elophilia music week.
Here is Dave Edmunds with Slipping Away, written and produced by Jeff Lynne. One can always tell. 😃
Here is Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chavarri del Castillo, also known as Yma Sumac with Gopher Mambo. Nobody had a voice (or vocal command) quite like hers.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 2 of #elophilia music week.
Here is Pugwash with It's Nice to be Nice
Some of the best blues ever recorded came from this guy (and his wife, who sometimes had to remind him of the lyrics while they were recording).
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
A confession: I love ELO. I love Jeff Lynne. So this is my #elophilia music week. Only I'm not gonna play any actual ELO. Just stuff that teases my cilia into ELO-adjacent sympathetic resonance.
To kick it off, here is L.E.O. with Distracted (from the album Alpacas Orgling)
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 7 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
Here is Matt Sucich playing “My Only Problem With You” as recorded at The Cathedral of Junk in Austin, TX. A fun listen AND also fun to watch.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 6 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
From the album actually called "Binaural" here is Pearl Jam with Thin Air (to be fair, I suspect that only portions of this album were actually recorded using the binaural technique, but this song is still nice and reminds me how much I miss some of the grunge acts)
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 5 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
Here is a cut from Rachmaninoff: Symphonic Dances (Lento assai; Allegro vivace) by the Pasadena Symphony and conducted by Jorge Mester. If your headphones can handle it, this is a rewarding album. Caution: Be wary of the dynamic range here.
Code's eclectic music pick of the day:
Day 4 of #binaural music week.
(Remember: You MUST listen to this with headphones to get any binaural effect.)
Here is Snakecharmer by Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra:
