Greetings from NorCal. I am almost done with delicious coffee No 1. It is dark and 31F and I neglected to cover the frost sensitive plants last night. Rats. Have a wonderful day!

I don't know who needs to see this, but here's the link to the California Native Plant Society. They have local chapters, projects, and sales too.

Dinétah - the Navajo Reservation - is getting electricity to its most remote locations for the first time ever. Largely due to the infrastructure bill.

Maybe if Amazon had make smile more seamless it would have had a bigger impact. But then AMZ knows better than most that less friction is more clicks. I find their excuse to be just an excuse. I’ve already switched to Apple Books and the increasingly shitty non book experience at AMZ has me buying some things elsewhere.

Greetings from NorCal. It's dark and 37F. Now I have delicious tea. Off to write!

Have a great day everyone!

Greetings from NorCal. I have delicious snowflake Oolong tea this morning to ward off darkness and 34F. Be safe and have a wonderful day!

Greetings all! Here in NorCal it is 35F and dark. I did see the moon and was startled until I remembered what clear night skies are like. I have delicious tea.

My grandma, who is still very much alive, tells me about being a child in Georgia when school integration happened. She tells me how the white boys threatened to rape her and lynch her brother. How they had to take the long way home from school because otherwise they would have to walk through a white neighborhood where they were called every racial slur under the sun.

We aren't that far removed and we all still have work to do. Remember that on this MLK day.

Greetings from NorCal. It's dark and 44F and not raining right now. Today's tea is lapsang Souchong and it's pretty great.

May everyone have a great day!

Here's one good thing about the I can use the toe of my galoshes to uproot thistles.

Gardening. It sounds idyllic and effortless. Well, it's not says the person who just hauled and spread woodchip mulch for 1.5 hours and then dug up a dead tree.

Greetings from NorCal. I need coffee No. 2 STAT. It's dark, 46F, and wet.

I am grateful for galoshes.

If my mushroom identification app is correct, there are a lot of toxic mushrooms. One of them is called Fragrant Funnel. Why? I mean, Sulpher Tufts don't sound remotely safe, for example. Ah, nature.

Now there's thunder. Hoo boy, this is wild. I hope everyone has found a safe place inside.

I unclogged the gutters by the front door and released a deluge down the pipes.

I gotta get some kind of gutter guards.

Weather visual: overcast and wet. Off and on rain. No new trees down! Water everywhere.

Greetings from NorCal. My coffee is stunningly perfect. It's 55F and raining. Also dark. Weather visual when conditions permit.

Fri-13th weather update: It is now raining and light enough out that I could see that no new driveway trees have fallen.
