Today I was on the deck when the elderly cat walked past Sam, the cat who is apparently moving in with us, without stopping to hiss. Then my cat came along and she and Sam hissed at each other and 10 seconds later Sam was lying down attempting to get her to play. Some kind of feline detente going on here!

We can differ in opinions on lots of things and that's fine, but there are some opinions that merit a block or an end to a friendship. That's just a fact.

As usual, the macaw was extremely excited to get his whole spices. He has a very good time chomping them up.

Off to make coffee No. 2. It is now sunny and 40F. The expected high is 64F. Sending thoughts of germination to all the wildflower seeds I planted yesterday!

Am happy to have a PRO account, but I enabled the landing page for my account and it just says I need a PRO account for that. The link ends at access denied.

Good morning. I have coffee. Got the bird up and took him with me to get the paper. Now he's on his java tree considering his breakfast options. Little dogs waiting for food to drop.

OK,. so I'm going back to watching Diagnosis on Netflix. It's an awesome show.

Photos of a bathing Red-Shouldered Hawk. First time I've seen one bathing!

You can see the inner eyelid in one photo, and in another, you can see what looks like a hood made of water around the Hawk's head.

I successfully assembled the rototiller and hardly half an hour later I was rototilling! I sowed the Calif wildflower mix. Now we wait for spring with bated breath, I guess.

Weather update: Now that the sun is up, I can report that it is very very foggy at the house.

Good morning I have coffee its dark out and 42F

Iron Chef México is really helping me with spoken Spanish comprehension. They speak fast but the vocabulary tends to be the easier words I’ve learned. Right now they’re cooking with bugs as the secret ingredient.

Yes, I did have a cookie for breakfast. I also had some biscotti. Our neighbor made them. She is an amazing baker and it’s no surprise that her baking side-business was profitable very, very quickly.

Still 34F and dark out. I have tea but need a refill. Gotta get writing. Have a great and safe day everyone!

It's been a hectic day here, busy on all fronts and all the while reflecting on painful anniversaries. I'm going to do a bit of writing then head to my toasty warm bed.

Today is my late brother's birthday. He was an amazing person and we will all miss him forever. It was no surprise to us when, as news of his death came out, that dozens of people contacted us with stories about how they'd met him and he'd changed their lives for the better. He made friends, true friends, everywhere he went.

Also the rototiller arrived today. Probably I can't assemble and try it out until the weekend.

I turned on the electric blanket a while back so now the bed I'm about to get into will be toasty warm.

Be kind to yourself and others!

Here's hoping my rototiller arrives today. I want to plant my wildflower seeds!

Here’s a wildlife cam pic of a juvenile red shouldered hawk just landed on edge of water dish. It’s facing away but slightly right, wings are up in a V shape. Daytime. Thick oak tree trunk in background.
