Admission: yes I am lazy and yea I should have gotten off my lazy butt and drove to the store to do this myself, but…this is kinda too scary to not share. I ordered cat food from the grocery store to be delivered. Specifically ordered pate, and only used pate type for substitution. Spoke with the shopper, apologized for being so adamant about the cat food but my cats will only eat pate.

Guess who is the proud owner of 38 tiny cans of gravy lover’s cat food. I’m scared for this country.

I sure hope the other team that stole these signs wasn’t Michigan State, especially given their performance at this year’s Michigan/Michigan State game.

This month marks the 114th anniversary of the Cherry mining disaster. November 13, 1909, 459 men and boys went down into the mine, only 200 would escape alive. This was one of the worst mining disasters in the US. It left 160 widows and 390 fatherless children. There were boys as young as 10 who died.
This was a mine that was declared fire proof, but that day a kerosine lantern caught a load of hay on fire, it was left to burn 45 minutes before they started evacuating the miners.

I have 12 minutes before I can go home. This night has dragged, especially the last hour.

So I noticed my hourly pay went up so I was checking to see what the minimum wage was right now for Illinois. While looking I found the states with the lowest minimum wage. WTF!

“ Currently, 30 states and Washington D.C. have minimum wages above the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. Five states have not adopted a state minimum wage: Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee. Two states, Georgia and Wyoming, have a minimum wage below $7.25 per hour.”

Foggy morning here on the banks of the Illinois River. Seems to have gotten worse since I got up this morning at 3 am and let the dog out.

It’s still early (4am) but it’s looking a lot like fall outside. Just need a bit more color on the leaves and we’ll be there.

Bored with everything on television so I splurged and bought the first season of Newsroom with Jeff Daniels. I forgot just how good that show was, besides Daniels being nice to look at.
