Hit the age of "easier to do it myself than explain how I want it done" Questions: can I "easily" move this unit to be centered? Wouldn't a single panel of plywood with a cutout to fit the a/c seal better and look better than the board across the top and the louvered panels? What can I do to make this less hideous?

I'm X years old and I still feel awkward and unsure what to do while someone is working around the house (ie: plumber, installer, etc.)
